Despite Social Media Reports, Nobody was Shot at Carver-Jeff Davis Game
One girl was injured when she fell.
Montgomery police say despite social media reports of shots being fired near the ASU stadium during last night’s Carver-Jeff Davis game, nobody was hit by gunfire. They say one girl was injured. The MPD Reports:
“The Montgomery Police Department responded last night to the Carver-JD football game at ASU’s stadium to provide assistance to the ASU Police Department after a report of shots fired outside the stadium. MPD officers augment security inside the stadium for all games at ASU involving MPS, and officers were at the stadium when the sound of gunfire was heard during the fourth quarter of the game. At that point the game was called by officials. Additional MPD officers arrived to provide assistance, helping with crowd control and traffic direction. There were no injuries, with the exception of a teenage female who sustained a minor injury in a fall and was treated by Fire Medics.
Alabama State University police are investigating the “shots-fired” report and we are expecting a statement from them. (see below)
The game was being played at the ASU stadium because the usual venue, Cramton Bowl, was being prepared for an ESPN broadcast on Saturday.
