Gunshots Interrupt Little League Football Game Near Bellingrath Middle School

A little league football game was interrupted, and kids were rushed to the ground at the sounds of nearby gunshots.

A Central Alabama Youth Football League team was playing near Bellingrath Middle School, when the gunfire erupted early Saturday afternoon.

Coaches reacted quickly to keep all of the young players safe, thanks to training they received from the Montgomery Sheriff’s Dept. earlier this Summer, they say.

In a Facebook post the league’s president said the kids were understandably shaken, but no one was injured.

Montgomery Police say they are still searching for whoever fired those shots around 12:30 Saturday afternoon, that damaged a woman’s home and vehicle near Stuart Street and South Court street. If you have any information that can help investigators , call Crime Stoppers at 215-STOP.
