New Sawmill to Bring Dozens of New Jobs to Selma
A new multi-million dollar sawmill opens in Selma — bringing dozens of new high tech jobs to the area.
Sunbelt Forest Ventures is a new state-of-the-art sawmill — that produces pallet timber. The facility is located on a 50-acre site in the South Dallas Industrial Park in Selma.
Company officials say the project represents a more than $30 million dollar investment in the area. And it will provide dozens of new jobs.
“We’re employing 45 people initially here, the goal will be to get on up to 75 or 80 when we double shift it,” said PalletOne CEO Howe Wallace.
“And they’re good paying jobs, they’re high-tech jobs,” said Selma Dallas Co. EDA Executive Director Wayne Vardaman. “Hopefully, we’ll get more of that type of thing. So, we’re excited about it.”
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held late Monday afternoon to celebrate the official start of operations.
