MPS Discusses Possible School Closings
The board of education for the Montgomery Public School system has been evaluating the schools alongside Volkert to see where funds should be spent for improvement. After research was conducted and information was presented to the board, a recommendation was made to potentially close down two of the schools in District 4. The schools are Dunbar-Ramer Elementary school and Pintlala Elementary school.
Dunbar-Ramer Elementary has an average enrollment of 75 students and Pintlala has an average enrollment of 100 students. The research presented suggests that it has become financially difficult to maintain both schools since the amount of financial support from the state level has decreased for the two schools due to their decline in enrollment.
