Group Helps Jailed Mothers Get Bail for Mother’s Day

A group called The Ordinary People Society, or TOPS for short, is helping jailed women spend time with their families for Mother’s Day.

TOPS is supported by National Bail Out, which is an organization that pays bail money for mothers and caregivers who are in jail. The group says that allows these people to spend time with family instead of sitting in jail for non-violent crimes.

“There’s children out there waiting for their moms,” Rodreshia Russaw of TOPS said. “They don’t know what happened the day they got arrested, and they just want a hug and be loved on. So we want to make sure they return back to their families.”

Bail for a typical individual is estimated to be $1,500.
