Montgomery Whitewater Hiring Raft Guides
Montgomery Whitewater is seeking raft guides before its grand opening in July.
Training for raft guides is already underway. The five-day sessions teach applicants how to guide a raft down the course. Students who complete the training can expect anywhere from 25-40 hours of rafting work per week.
“Being a raft guide is one of the most fun ways to spend your time especially during the summer,” Paul Belle Isle, the Montgomery Whitewater Kayak Manager, said. “It’s a very fun, physical job. Being a strong swimmer out here, being very comfortable in the water is something that we really want people to know about before they come to guide school, but it is like long, physical days, but it is one of the most rewarding things that you can ever do.”
Other raft guide training sessions will be held in June and July. Click here for more information.
The 120-acre Montgomery Whitewater complex will open Saturday, July 8. It will offer paddling, canoeing, zip lines, ropes courses and several other attractions. It is located just off Maxwell Boulevard between Interstate 65 and Maxwell Air Force Base.
