Hundreds cheer on local Girls on the Run teams during celebratory 5K
Saturday was a great day for some young runners in our area. One hundred and sixty five local third through eighth grade girls crossed the finish line and accomplished a goal they set for themselves ten weeks ago. The Girls on the Run end of season celebratory 5K was held at Montgomery Whitewater, and hundreds of coaches, family members, and officer trainees from Maxwell Air Force Base came to cheer the girls on. This fall season there were 12 Girls on the Run teams from Montgomery, Pike Road, Prattville, and Selma. Attendees say it was a joyous occasion watching the pint-sized runners, as they crossed the finish line and experienced a sense of accomplishment in reaching their goal.
