One of the five U.S. Army soldiers killed in a helicopter crash in the Mediterranean Sea was from Alabama.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Stephen Dwyer was a 2004 graduate of Enterprise High School.

He was 38 years old and most recently lived in Clarksville, Tennessee, north of Nashville.

Dwyer was one of one of the five Army Special Operations Aviation Soldiers killed in the crash. It happened Friday during a training operation involving their Blackhawk helicopter.

Enterprise Mayor William Cooper said in a statement, “I was Assistant Principal when he was in high school, and I remember him fondly.

“Let’s all lift up his wife, their three boys, his parents, sister and other family members and friends in prayer as they go through this unimaginable time.”
