UPDATE:

ADOC says the inmate who escaped from the Alexander City Detention Facility Monday has been recaptured.

Details are limited, but ADOC tells Action 8 News that 35-year-old Tom Seabers Pope was captured late Moinday night in Marshall County by the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force Unit.

The Alabama Department of Corrections says an inmate has escaped from the Alexander City Detention Facility.

ADOC is seeking help finding 35-year-old Tom Seabers Pope. He was last accounted for at around 6:40PM last night. Later in the night, ADOC says he wasn’t found and was considered an escapee at 9:18PM.

He is described as 5’7″ tall and 160 pounds. He  has short brown hair and blue eyes.

Pope was last seen wearing a standard issue ADOC uniform.

He is serving an 18-month sentence for breaking and entering a motor vehicle, according to authorities.
