Mainly cloudy, cool Thursday; Rain, some storms Friday
Thursday morning was very cold across central and south Alabama again. Morning lows ranged from 28 to 30° area-wide. Clouds filled the sky across all of south Alabama Thursday morning. Thursday afternoon remains mostly cloudy. Temperatures remain cool, with highs potentially only in the mid to upper 50s. Temperatures may warm into the low 60s where sunshine can break through the clouds during the afternoon.
Thursday night remains mainly cloudy. Temperatures remain much milder than recent nights, with lows near 50°. Showers arrive late Thursday night, with some storms in the mix by Friday morning. A few storms may become strong to marginally severe during the late morning into the afternoon. A damaging wind gust or brief tornado appear possible south of highway 80. That area lies within a marginal (level 1/5) severe risk.
Outside of rain and storms, Friday looks like a mostly cloudy and warmer day with highs near 70°. There may be a lull in rain and storm activity Friday afternoon and evening. However, additional showers and some storms appear possible late Friday night into Saturday morning. We may again get a lull in rain/storm activity Saturday afternoon and evening, before more storms arrive Saturday night.
Otherwise, the weekend looks mostly cloudy but much milder. Afternoon temperatures reach the upper 60s to low 70 Saturday and Sunday. Low temperatures only fall into the upper 50s to low 60s Friday and Saturday night. Some showers linger through Sunday morning, but Sunday afternoon trends drier. However, the sky remains mostly cloudy. Sunday night trends cooler with lows in the upper 40s.
Next week looks rain-free through Thursday. Monday remains mild with highs in the mid to upper 60s. Monday night turns colder with lows in the low 40s. Sunshine increases Tuesday through Thursday. However, temperatures trend cooler. Afternoon temperatures peak in the low 60s each day. Lows fall into the 30s each night.
