Action 8’s Magical Christmas Toy Drive another big success
The WAKA Action 8 Magical Christmas Toy Drive was another big success for the Salvation Army of Montgomery thanks to those of you who donated and to our community partners.
The toys have now been removed from the Toy Vault inside Eastdale Mall. They will now be organized so that on Tuesday, December 19, the Salvation Army can distribute them to registered parents to give to their children on Christmas.
Action 8 started collecting toys in mid-November in our five-week toy drive. We went on shopping sprees at the Walmart Supercenter on Chantilly Parkway with our partners, which included Wind Creek Casino, South University, Eastdale Mall, ASE Credit Union, Hawthorne, Atchison and Riddle and ServPro.
But we couldn’t have filled the Toy Vault without our caring viewers who dropped off a toy, or two, or more at one of the many drop-off locations throughout the area. Each donation really makes a difference.
This is the 10th anniversary of Action 8’s Magical Christmas Toy Drive. We started with a vault inside one of our studios at the TV station, but quickly outgrew it. Eastdale Mall has provided us with space in recent years. The new Toy Vault allows shoppers to see the number of toys grow and grow over the course of the toy drive.
Thanks to all of you for making this year another big success!
