Ground broken for new hotel in Millbrook

The city of Millbrook has taken the next step on a huge new hotel project.

City leaders helped break ground Thursday for a new hotel at their 17 Springs development.

It will be a TownePlace Suites by Marriott, near Exit 179 off of Interstate 65.

17 Springs is a new, 110-acre outdoor sports and recreation complex with athletic fields, tennis courts and pickleball courts and a lot more on the way.

The hotel is designed for families attending sports tournaments or even people moving in because they’re stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base.

“This project I think is tremendous for the community over here when you think about it, the impact not just a economical sense also creating the better sense of community, ” Rinkesh Patel, the CEO of RAM Hotel, the company that will manage the hotel said.

“This is another huge one, it just keeps getting better and better and TownePlace Suites is going to be a tremendous addition to our community,” Millbrook Mayor Al Kelley said. “We just can’t wait to get it going.”

The new hotel is scheduled to open around Thanksgiving 2024. The first phase of 17 Springs is expected to open in the spring.
