The Lady Tigers top Norfolk State

Auburn Women's Basketball

The Lady Tigers defeated Norfolk State 67-39 to extend their win streak to six. However, after the first half of play, the Lady Tigers only went into the locker room with a six-point lead. After the break, it was a huge 41-point effort in the second half to boost Auburn to the win.

“The kids came out fighting and battling,” Auburn coach Johnnie Harris said. “I like how we came out in the second half, and the resiliency of this team. They’re playing hard and trusting us so when we make adjustments, they’re doing everything we ask them to do and getting better because of that.”

JaMya Mingo-Young led the Tigers in rebounds, assists, and scoring with 16 points. Mingo-Young also tied an Auburn record for free throws without a miss going 12 for 12.

“A whole lot of practice. We shoot free throws every day. Just being up there having muscle memory,” Mingo-Young said. “The zero turnovers make me the most proud. Being solid, just running my team, running the offense, doing what the coaches want and leading.“

The Lady Tigers return to action on Wednesday December 20th against Washington State.
