CAMPAIGN 2024: A new CBS News/YouGov poll shows that Nikki Haley has moved into second place over Ron DeSantis in New Hampshire, behind former President Donald Trump.

In Iowa, Trump has a commanding lead over all of his opponents.

In New Hampshire, Haley has consolidated much of the non-Trump vote and is now the top alternative to him there. The poll shows she gets the best marks on being seen as “likable” and “reasonable,” and she runs nearly even with Trump on being “prepared.”

The results to the questions above have a margin of error of +/- 5.5 points.

In Iowa, likely Republican caucus-goers overwhelmingly see Trump as a “strong leader.” Trump’s lead in Iowa is far greater.

The results of that question have a margin of error of +/- 6.1 points.

The poll was conducted December 8-15.

The Iowa caucus is January 15, 2024, while the New Hampshire Primary is January 23.

Alabama holds its primaries on March 5, which is “Super Tuesday.” Besides Alabama, other areas holding primaries or caucuses that day are: Alaska (Republican presidential caucuses), American Samoa (presidential caucuses), Arkansas, California, Colorado, Iowa (Democratic caucus mail vote), Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah (Democratic presidential primary and Republican presidential caucuses), Vermont and Virginia.
