Rain Heading Our Way

We’re heading towards an active weather pattern that will bring us a couple of rounds of rain this week and more ahead for next week. It’s a classic El Nino setup that will keep the rain makers coming our way this winter.

In the meantime, clouds will be on the increase overnight. This will be ahead of the approaching system that brings rain into the area Wednesday. At the onset of the precipitation, a few ice pellets could fall in west Alabama.  We don’t expect any issues and the rest of the day is looking  cloudy and wet with light to moderate rain areawide. Rainfall potential will range between .25 to .50 an inch. This will be all rain and no severe storm threat will accompany this system. Clouds and rain activity will keep it cool and temps only reach the upper 40s to lower 50s Wednesday afternoon.

Later in the week, we’re back to sunshine but cold air still hovers around. Highs will reach the mid to upper 50s but overnight temps will drop to the freezing mark both Thursday and Friday morning.

The upcoming weekend will reveal another rain maker working across the area. It’s an area of low pressure moving along the northern gulf coast region. Once again, it’s all rain with no severe storm threat. The system will move through late Friday night into early Saturday morning. Temps during the weekend will continue in the 50s for highs while overnight lows hover in the lower 40s. We’re back to sunshine and dry conditions Saturday afternoon into Monday but there’s another rain maker setting up for Tuesday of next week.
