Pike County man pleads guilty to 2019 murder of a Troy woman
A Pike County man accused of murdering a Troy woman in front of her children in 2019 has pleaded guilty.
District Attorney James Tarbox tells Action 8 News that Michael Walker entered a guilty plea for the murder of Melissa Pelton in the presence of their 6 minor children at their home on U.S. 231 South in Troy.
Tarbox said in exchange for his guilty plea, the State of Alabama through the 12th Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office agreed not to seek the death penalty in the case.
Walker was sentenced to Life Without the Possibility of Parole.
Tarbox says Walker will be transported to the Alabama Department of Corrections where he will begin his sentence.
