Sunshine Thursday, clouds increase with rain late Friday

Sunshine returned to central and south Alabama Thursday morning. However, morning temperatures were cold again, with lows in the upper 20s to low 30s. The sky likely remains cloudless for the rest of the day, with afternoon highs rebounding into the mid 50s. Thursday night looks cold, with lows falling to near freezing again. The sky remains mostly clear overnight, but clouds quickly increase Friday with another round of rain late in the day.

Much of Friday’s rain occurs during the evening into Friday night. High temperatures range from the upper 50s to low 60s Friday. Outside of spotty early morning showers Saturday, the weekend looks mainly rain-free, but mostly cloudy. High temperatures remain cool but near-normal, in the upper 50s Saturday and Sunday. Lows fall into the upper 30s to around 40° each night.

Another soaking rain looks likely early next week. A dynamic weather system sweeps across the southeast Monday into Tuesday. It looks like instability remains very limited in our area as this system moves through. That should limit the risk for strong to severe storms. However, severe weather potential remains worth watching until then. Wednesday and Thursday look rain-free with near-normal temperatures.
