Clouds increase Friday, rain Friday night; Drier, cool this weekend
Friday morning was fairly sunny across central and south Alabama. It was cold early, with morning lows in the upper 20s and lower wind chill values in many locations. Clouds started increasing across west Alabama by midday. That continues during the afternoon area-wide. High temperatures range from the upper 50s to low 60s. Most of Friday night’s rain departs to our east by Saturday morning. However, clouds linger, with a mostly cloudy sky during the day. High temperatures range from the mid to upper 50s, and may occur during the morning. Afternoon temperatures may trend a bit cooler. Clouds partially clear Saturday night into Sunday. Saturday night lows fall to near 40°. Sunday looks partly to mostly cloudy with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Sunday night lows fall into the 30s.
Another round of rain and perhaps storms looks likely early next week, late Monday through Tuesday. A dynamic weather system sweeps across the south during that time. The storm system remains worth watching for severe weather potential. In fact, the storm prediction center places parts of the deep south within a severe risk on Monday and Tuesday. However, instability still looks limited early next week, limiting severe weather potential.
Alabama dries out Wednesday into Thursday. Each day looks partly cloudy, with highs on either side of 60°. Lows fall into the 30s each night. Another front swings toward Alabama Friday, bringing more rain with it. Temperatures warm into the low 60s Friday.
