Pay It Forward: Reggina Baskin of Montgomery

A Christmas tree lighting ceremony a few days before Christmas turned into more than Reggina Baskin expected. She was honored to light the tree, but she didn’t know she was also getting a big surprise for all she does for others.

Baskin is a retired teacher and now heads up a ministry called ‘At Home in My Heart’ to help children and families who are experiencing food deprivation and hunger.

“I nominated Reggina Baskin because she is so giving and loving and kind. She is just like one of God’s angels here on earth. She loves the kids. She takes care of the homeless, and she is going through something herself, but you’d never know it. I just love her and I want to be just like her when I grow up,” said her nominator Cubie Rae Hayes.

Baskin works closely with Catoma Elementary providing for students’ needs at the school. She is also a 4 time cancer survivor and continues to deal with challenges, but she does not let that hold her back.

“There is no way I could do what I do, pouring into people, being compassionate and giving, without people first giving to me. I’ve seen giving all my life. My parents were givers and servants, and I’m just so grateful. I’m just so grateful. So grateful,” said Baskin.
