Strong To Severe Storms Still Possible Friday
Another strong storm system will make its move toward the region Friday. We still have the risk for strong to severe storms despite limited instability. The Storm Prediction Center has moved the enhanced risk (3 out of 5) area northwest of us. We’re now in a slight risk (2 out of 5) and still threatened by storms capable of producing tornadoes, damaging winds and quarter size hail. Take the time now to review your families severe weather plan.
In the meantime, clouds will be on the increase tonight. Temps won’t be quite as cold underneath the cloud deck moving into the area. We’re expecting upper 40s to lower 50s for overnight lows.
The storm system approaching Friday will bring rain and severe storms along with it. A line of storms will develop west of us and move eastward through the day. There will likely be isolated cells developing ahead of the line and these could be a problem. Those individual cells could spin up a tornado or produce damaging wind gust. We will be closely monitoring the development of those isolated storms throughout the day.
Our upcoming weekend is looking rainfree and quiet. We expect mainly sunny skies but no significant warm up. It will be colder with highs only in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Overnight lows will hover in the upper 20s to lower 30s.
