Parade held in Downtown Montgomery in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

A parade was held in downtown Montgomery in memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Monday, the national holiday held in his memory.

Monday would have been King’s 95th birthday.

After the service at Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, the parade was held from the Troy University Montgomery campus up Dexter Avenue to the Alabama Capitol.

It was just one of many events taking place throughout the city.

King served as pastor at what was then Dexter Avenue Baptist Church from 1954-1960 and led many key events of the Civil Rights Movement.
