Selma Police arrest suspect in city’s 1st murder of 2024

A woman is dead — and a man is behind bars — after an argument turns deadly in Selma.

It’s the first murder in the city of Selma in 2024 — as well as the city’s first murder arrest.

Selma Police detectives quickly made an arrest in the city’s 1st homicide of the new year.

“I want to thank my detectives for doing a wonderful job in bringing this case to a head very quickly,” said Lt. Ray Blanks.

Detectives responded to shooting call at the Woodrow East subdivision at around 7:15 Sunday night — and found 38 year old Latoya McCord — dead on the scene.

“Started working the case, was able to identify the suspect. The suspect was taken to police headquarters and questioned in reference to the incident,” said Blanks.

Twenty-seven year old Quandarius Green of Selma has been arrested and charged with capital murder in the case.

Blanks says Green and McCord shared a child together — but were not currently in a relationship.

“The investigation revealed that there was some type of altercation that turned into a shooting.”

Green is being held in the Perry Co. Correctional Facility — without bond.
