Cold Sunday night, much warmer with rain and storms this week

It was a very cold weekend across central and south Alabama. Saturday morning lows were in the upper teens and 20s, with lower minimum wind chills. Even with wall-to-wall sunshine, high temperatures were only in the 30s, over 20° below average for our area. Saturday night lows fell into the mid 10s to 20°. Morning wind chill values were at least as low as 10°. Sunday was mainly sunny, but high temperatures were still only in the 40s.

Sunday night still looks cold, with lows in the mid to upper 20s. However, temperatures look much milder this week. Afternoon temperatures warm into the 50s despite increasing clouds Monday. Temperatures look even warmer for the rest of the week. High temperatures warm into the mid to upper 60s Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures could reach the low 70s Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, overnight lows only fall into the 50s to low 60s Tuesday through Friday night. However, daily chances for rain and some storms return starting Tuesday. Rain may linger all the way through next weekend. Area rain totals could be in excess of 3″ through the end of the week. It looks like our area dries out late Sunday, with sunshine and dry weather possible for Monday January 29th.
