Local Artist Spends Three Weeks in a Coma

Flowers line the streets of downtown Greenville as the city prepares for their annual camellia show this weekend. Those flowers represent new beginnings for the artist who is speaking out about her recent medical scare. Following a medical complication late last year Michelle Black spent three weeks in a coma at UAB hospital in Birmingham.

During her nearly three month stay at UAB following heart failure, Michelle Black lost the ability to walk, talk and even to hold a paint brush but she persevered. Now, six months later she has re gained her ability to paint and is once again leaving her mark across southern United States.

Michelle has been commissioned to pain murals in Greenville, Troy, Luverne and Pineapple, just to name a few places. Her work can be seen in store windows and along city streets.

Now, as she re introduces the use of window clings to her business her strength and creativity has been renewed along with the blessing of more time with her family.

Michelles’ latest work can be seen downtown Greenville, as she has painted and created Camilla’s to represent the city for its annual Camellia Show.
