Town Hall meeting held for residents in State House District 74

Some residents in State House District 74 gathered at the Chisholm Community Center to discuss issues in their neighborhoods. State Representative Phillip Ensler hosted a district town hall Sunday afternoon. He talked about proposals to address gun violence, mental health services, and criminal justice reform – just a few topics impacting the residents in his district and across the state. About a dozen people came to meet Ensler and discuss problems that they believe need to be fixed in their neighborhoods.

“So the main issues people care about – public education. They care about gun violence, they care about mental health, and so all of those are interconnected. And they know that as a lawmaker I can’t fix, I can’t change everything, but they want to at least know that at the state house we are trying to address those issues. Something that I’ve got into the school system this year, I want to do more conflict resolution, to help young people deal if they are having anger or having issues at home or with another student. Being able to help them de-escalate, and not turn to violence. So we will have that in Montgomery Public Schools starting this spring. And I’m looking forward to us doing even more of that,” Ensler said. A livestream on Facebook was also available so people could tune in virtually if they were not able to attend the event in person.
