Strong To Severe Storms Possible Through Monday Afternoon

A strong to severe storm threat will hover over our area through Monday afternoon.  There’s a frontal system stalled just to our north and it will keep us in a rather wet and stormy weather pattern tonight well into Monday.  Everyone will need to stay weather aware!

The Storm Prediction Center has most of our area in a slight risk (level 2/5) for severe storms. The main threats will be damaging winds, tornadoes, and quarter size hail.  We should also include the potential for very heavy rainfall.  Some spots have already seen 2 to 3 inches of rain.  Flash flooding is a real threat and caution is advised when traveling.  Please do not cross water covered roadways! The saying goes “turn around…don’t drown”.

The last of the storms will exit early Monday afternoon. High pressure will build back over the deep south.  We expect sunny but cooler weather conditions to return Tuesday. The rest of the work week looks dry with temps warming a bit.  The coldest morning will be Wednesday with mid 30s but we’re in the 40s for lows the remainder of the week. Highs will be going from the upper 50s Tuesday into the mid and upper 60s Wednesday through Friday.

Looks like another rain maker will take aim at the upcoming weekend. Another frontal system will make its way into the deep south. Rain along with storms are likely to develop and move through the area Saturday. Another surge of cooler air will come in behind the rain Sunday.
