Autauga County Sheriff’s Office holding fundraising rodeo

The Autauga County Sheriff’s Office is holding a rodeo this weekend in Autaugaville to help raise money for its operations.

Sheriff Mark Harrell says a new state law involving the permitless carry of handguns has left him short on revenue.

“We lost a lot of monies, about 60% on our pistol permit that we’ve come in with new law, so this money will go back to give me time a chance as a sheriff of Autauga County to buy equipment for my guys and also to continue to do events for our community like this,” Harrell told Action 8 News.

The  PCA Rodeo will be held at the R. H. Kirkpatrick Agricultural Pavilion on Highway 14. The rodeo will take place Friday and Saturday starting at 6 PM.
Tickets are $15, and children 5 and under get in free.
The rodeo will have events with professional cowboys from all over the southeast, including bull riding, barrel racing, steer wrestling and breakaway roping.
The Lions Club will be in charge of concession stands and other vendors will be selling T-shirts and other items.
