A Dallas County man is behind bars facing multiple charges — including burglary — and attempted rape.
Sheriff Mike Granthum say 25 year old Kelvante Spicer — is accused of two burglaries — in addition to trying to rape a woman at gunpoint.
Deputies investigating a burglary on the 200 block of County Road 189 in the Beloit community Monday evening — got a call about a burglary in progress — at another house down the road.
Granthum says when deputies arrived at that house — they found the door kicked in — and Kelvante Spicer inside the house — armed with a gun.
“While he was at the residence, he climbed in the resident’s bed. So, he was in that house armed and he was naked from the waist down.”
Granthum says while Spicer was being arrested — a woman drove up and told deputies that Spicer had flagged her down and tried to rape her at gunpoint. However, after several minutes of fighting him off — the woman was able to get away.
“He wanted some action. That was his words,” said Granthum.
“My hat’s off to the female that was able to fight him off. Luckily she didn’t get shot.”
Granthum says earlier that same day — Spicer was accused of groping young women at two Selma businesses.
“Not only was he a dangerous person before he armed himself, but once he armed himself in a burglary, he took it to a whole ‘nother level. I mean, he was looking for prey,” Granthum said.
“He was looking for somebody to pounce on, somebody to take advantage of. Then when he armed himself, I mean, he’s even that much more dangerous.”
Spicer is being held in the Perry County Correctional Facility on $750,000 dollars bail.
