Auburn Police say two men face a long list of charges following a police chase and crash on Interstate 85.

Police say they’ve arrested 30-year-old Damien Dean Waller and 24-year-old Cedric Antonio Paige, Jr., who are both from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Police say they received several auto burglary reports that happened near the 2300 block of Wire Road between 6PM and 7PM on Wednesday. That location is near the Wire Road Soccer Complex. Investigators say a witness gave them a description of the suspects’ vehicle.

Officers say they spotted the vehicle near the 1700 block of South College Street, close to the Walmart Supercenter. Police say they saw one of the men who appeared to be concealing his identity exit a business and get into the vehicle. Police units followed the vehicle as it exited a parking lot onto South College Street at a high rate of speed, investigators say.

The pursuit continued as the vehicle turned on the northbound entrance onto Interstate 85. Opelika police joined the chase as the vehicle entered their city heading north. The suspects’ vehicle continued speeding until it crashed into another vehicle near Exit 62. No one was injured, police say.

The suspects got out and police continued to chase them on foot until the arrests were made, investigators say.

Waller was arrested on warrants charging him with three counts of breaking and entering into a vehicle, two counts of trafficking in stolen identities, four counts of fraudulent use of a debit/credit card, two counts of theft of property third degree, possession of burglary tools, felony attempting to elude and theft of property fourth degree.

Paige was arrested on warrants charging him with three counts of breaking and entering into a vehicle, two counts of trafficking in stolen identities, five counts of fraudulent use of a debit/credit card, two counts of theft of property third degree, possession of burglary tools and theft of property fourth degree.

Waller and Paige were taken to the Lee County Jail. Waller is being held on an $87,000 bond and Paige on an $83,500 bond.
