Montgomery Motor Speedway hosts the 60th Anniversary of the Alabama 200 also known as the “Hunt for the Bear.” The Alabama 200 is one of the top races in the country for late model cars and attracts some of the best drivers in the southeast region.
Some of the big names competing in the 2024 “Hunt for the Bear” include last year’s winner Seth Christensen, who also is a teammate of NASCAR’s Chase Elliott. The field at the 2024 “Hunt for the Bear” also includes other former winners like Christopher Tullis and Auggie Grill who is also known as Mr. Montgomery.
The competitors are not only competing for the Bear Trophy, but also the top prize of $10,000.
“There’s such prestige that goes with it, I mean you can go back to you know the Allison’s have won here, Rhett Famer has won, even Richard Petty has won a race here in the Alabama 200. So when you can add your name to that, that’s big. And a lot of people feel like if they can start off here great at the Alabama 200, the Hunt for the Bear it kind of makes their season. And I’ll tell you it gets a lot of attention from people,” says Track General Manager Stan Narrison.
