ONLY ON 8: Sneak peak at new distillery in Troy

Action 8 News is showing you behind the scenes of the new Conecuh Ridge Distillery in Troy.

The new site, which is located just 20 miles from where the notorious Alabama moonshiner, Clyde May, first made his moonshine in the 1950s, is said to be the largest distillery in Alabama.

The distillery will create approximately 50 new jobs in Pike County once it is fully operational and up to capacity.

Once complete, all Clyde May’s whiskeys will be produced and bottled on-site, as well as the newer Conecuh Ridge Bourbon, which debuted late last year.

In addition to a 24-inch column still with the capacity to produce 600,000 gallons a year, the Conecuh Ridge Distillery will include a bottling plant, tasting rooms, a retail shop, food trucks and a barrelhouse with a capacity for 9,000 barrels. All of that will be part of tours that will be featured at Conecuh Ridge Distillery.

The distillery is scheduled to open in June 2024.

WAKA Action 8’s Teresa Lawson was invited to the facility as construction is currently underway. You can watch that story above.
