Severe Storm Threat Friday PM Into Saturday AM

We’re in a quiet weather setup now but that will be changing soon. The next system will be a bit stronger than the one earlier this week. We will have the potential for very heavy rainfall along with a strong to possibly severe storms late Friday and early Saturday.

In the meantime, it’s looking mostly cloudy and mild tonight. We stay dry and temps only fall into the mid to upper 50s for lows overnight. Friday will start out uneventful but as the day progresses rain and storms will approach the western side of the state. That means most of your Friday will actually be rather quiet weatherwise. We expect the rain activity to enter the around around 4pm and advance eastward through the evening.

The weekend will start out with rain and storms advancing through the area. We could see a couple rounds of strong to possibly severe Friday night into early Saturday. Some storms will be capable of producing damaging winds up to 60 mph and even a few brief tornadoes. Rainfall could be rather heavy with 2 to 4 inches possible. The rain will depart early Saturday and it’s looking mostly sunny but a lot cooler Sunday into Monday of next week.
