ACTION 8 UPDATE: Construction on new Pike Road High School planned for late spring

Action 8 News has an update on the planned construction of the new Pike Road High School.

Construction had been scheduled to start either this month or in April.

Pike Road Schools Superintendent Dr. Keith Lankford tells us they’re now looking at starting construction by the end of May.

Lankford says the budget for the school is $98 million, but he wants to be cautious about what they are doing.

The goal is for the school to open by August of 2026.

As Action 8 News has reported, the new school will be located on 73 acres across from the Pike Road water tower on Wallahatchie Road. The new school will have a career tech center with STEM labs, state of the art science labs, two gyms and much more.

The Georgia Washington campus, which is currently being used for the high school, will then be converted into a junior high school campus for grades 6-8.
