U.S. Marshals capture Selma fugitive wanted for capital murder

Federal agents capture a fugitive from justice — wanted for capital murder in Selma.
The arrest is the second in the drive-by shooting of a man in a shopping center parking lot last year in April.
Dallas Co. Sheriff Mike Granthum says U.S. Marshals captured 36 year old Kenyada Dukes of Selma — in Phoenix, Arizona — on Tuesday.
“I don’t know why you think you can run. I mean, you may run for a short period of time. But we’re going to find you. We don’t care if you go to California. We’re gon’ bring you back to face your charges,” said Granthum.
A grand jury indicted Dukes for capital murder in the death of 28 year old Javon Hall of Selma. Hall was shot in the parking lot in front of Hibbett Sports in broad daylight — and later died.
“We had children inside the building. We had people walking up and down the store front looking. And it’s by the grace of God nobody else was killed,” said Granthum.
Thirty-six year old Stephen Wood of Selma — is also charged with capital murder in the case.
Both men are also facing — 4 counts of shooting into an unoccupied building.
“They just started shooting. Just spraying the parking lot with bullets.”
Granthum says the investigation remains ongoing. And more arrests are possible.
“We just want people to know that if you know that somebody’s doing something wrong, and you’re assisting them to escape capture, we’re gon’ charge you,” said Granthum.
Deputies will head to Arizona to bring Dukes back to Alabama — before the end of the month.
