Greenville High School Key Club Giving back to Foster Families
Becoming a foster parent is an act of heart that’s why foster families rely on those in their community for support. Groups like Greenville High School’s Key Club helps to play a vital role in supporting foster families. Their volunteerism in the local foster closet help foster families meet the needs of the children in their care.
“I am a Foster Parent myself and it is very much a passion for me to see that these kids get involved and understand that kids are less fortunate than them and they need help. And we are the Key Club and what we do is help.” says Key Club Sponsor Cordarius Longmire.
The Foster closet houses many things that foster families need to help sustain their children. From school clothes to toys and shoes the closet helps to alleviate a huge financial burden. Foster families are able to shop the closet for free, selecting items needed for their children and volunteers, like GHS’s Key club, periodically volunteer in the closet by packing boxes for children and helping to organize donations. Doing their part and giving back to families who work hard to create homes for children, so that that child never feels that they are missing out on anything that life has to offer.
