The verdict is in — in the trial of a Selma man accused in the death of a toddler.
A jury convicted Tristan Dial of manslaughter in the case — after deliberating for less than an hour.
Dial had been charged with murder in the death of the 23-month-old-child of a woman he was dating.
The child died back in 2017 from injuries caused by blunt force trauma.
“The reckless manslaughter conviction that was returned in this case on today resulted from the jury, after listening to the evidence, they reached a conclusion that the defendant’s reckless conduct contributed to the death of the minor and it caused his death,” said District Attorney Robert Turner, Jr.
Dial will be sentenced by Circuit Judge Marvin Wiggins — at a later date.
