Montgomery Whitewater announces events for 2024 Canoe Slalom and Kayak Cross Olympic Team Trials

Montgomery Whitewater Park has released its full calendar of events for the upcoming 2024 Canoe Slalom and Kayak Cross Olympic Team Trials, set to take place at the park April 13-14.

This will mark the first time Canoe Slalom and Kayak Cross will hold its Olympic Team Trials in the state of Alabama, and the first of two selection events to be held before the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

Daily competition will begin at 9:15 a.m. with the men’s and women’s Canoe Slalom races. Kayak Cross time trials will be at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, and the Extreme Slalom competition will be at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Awards will follow the races on Sunday.

Saturday at 5:00 p.m., the Get Down Concert Series will feature live performances by rock bands Dee Oh Gee and Graves B’hamala.

A health and wellness fair with activities and family fun will be open during the competition hours on both days.

Since opening in July 2023, the park has hosted the American Canoe Association’s Age Group National Championships in Canoe Slalom and Kayak Cross and will hold the U.S. Open Whitewater Championships in partnership with the Nantahala Racing Club on March 23-24. The facility is the newest and most advanced of only three Olympic-caliber pumped whitewater courses in America capable of hosting the highest-level international events as well as offering recreational kayaking, canoeing, rafting and instruction.
