ACTION 8 UPDATE: FAA investigating Opelika plane crash involving Auburn student pilot
ACTION 8 UPDATE: We now have more information on that plane crash in Opelika that we first told you about on Sunday.
The crash happened that afternoon near Watson Street in Opelika. It involved a plane owned by Auburn University.
Auburn has released a statement to Action 8 News, saying that the pilot was a student on a training flight, who was able to walk away from the crash.
The student, who was the only person in the plane, was treated and released from East Alabama Medical Center.
The crash happened about 2,000 feet from the Auburn University Regional Airport where the student had just taken off.
The FAA is investigating. We will keep you updated.
