One Year Later: Prattville tornado remembered

People in Prattville are remembering the first anniversary of a tornado that left part of the city with damage.

The Prattville Pickers antique mall was one of the places hit on March 26, 2023, causing damage there and at other nearby areas.
Trees fell at the Prattville Country Club, and power poles were snapped at Deer Trace and Pletcher Street.
Even though the storm was just an EF-0 with winds of 75 miles per hour, it hasn’t been forgotten.
“Our team came together tighter than it ever was,” Prattville Pickers owner Brenda Englebert told Action 8 News.
“Then the gratitude started setting in like, ‘Wow, we’re going to have a job. Wow, we’re building back better.’ We learned how our 300 vendors really loved us and understood we had to be closed. They supported us but then when we reopened, the customers the community — I think the first month that we reopened, our sales skyrocketed. We really felt loved by the community,” she said.
The tornado that hit Prattville was only on the ground for about two minutes with a path one mile long.
That wasn’t the only storm to hit. Tornadoes also hit in Macon County and near Lake Martin. Hail was reported in Camden, Andalusia and in Tallapoosa County.
