Alabama State University is reaching out to Birmingham-Southern College students
Alabama State University is reaching out to students of Birmingham-Southern College, which will close on May 31 after 168 years.
Administrative and academic leaders at ASU are inviting undergraduate and graduate students at BSC to consider coming to Alabama State.
“Our University and its Board of Trustees are greatly concerned about the hundreds of students at Birmingham-Southern College who will soon be without a school to attend, and we are saddened that many of its students are in a quandary on how and where to complete their college education,” Alabama State University President Dr. Quinton Ross said.
“We are looking at many ways to assist them, which includes an expedited transfer process. I have instructed our Office of Academic Affairs and our Admissions Office to work closely with all of Birmingham-Southern’s students who are in need of a way to complete their education.”
ASU’s vice president of Academic Affairs and provost, Dr. Carl S. Pettis, says the university will offer a transfer process for all eligible BSC students that are enrolled at the school, which includes working with them on such issues as application fees and accelerated credit transfer processing, if they are eligible for admission to Alabama State.
