8 ON YOUR SIDE: Target says it will be adding cameras to combat theft at self-checkout registers.

The technology is called Truscan. The cameras will be able to detect items on scanners and anything that is not scanned.

Shoppers will get audio and visual messages when they don’t scan items correctly.

Truscan will help track people who repeatedly fail to scan items, even after they get an alert message.

The new technology will be rolled out to all stores this year.

This news comes after Target announced last month that it would limit self-checkout to ten items or fewer.
