CAMPAIGN 2024: Meet Republican Congressional candidate Caroleene Dobson
CAMPAIGN 2024: Action 8 News is getting you ready for the April 16 runoffs in the District 2 Congressional race. Meet Republican candidate Caroleene Dobson.
Dobson was born in Beatrice and grew up on her family’s fifth-generation cattle farm. She attended Harvard College, earning a degree in history and literature, and later attended Baylor Law School, where she graduated magna cum laude.
Dobson practices real estate law at the Maynard Nexsen law firm. She is a member of the Alabama Forestry Commission, the Federalist Society and serves on the board of the Southeastern Livestock Exposition.
Dobson faces Republican candidate Dick Brewbaker in the Republican runoff on April 16. There is also a runoff between Democratic candidates Shomari Figures and Anthony Daniels.
The winners of the runoffs will face each other in the general election on November 5.
District 2 was recently redrawn to give Black Alabamians a better chance at representation. As a result, the district, which has been a safe Republican district for decades, is now hotly contested between the Democratic and Republican candidates. It is being watched across the nation due to the near-even split in the U.S. House of Representatives.
