Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed speaks on interim police chief
Action 8 News asked Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed about interim Police Chief John Hall and what residents can expect in the future.
As Action 8 News has reported, current Police Chief Darryl Albert was placed on administrative leave. The announcement was made late Monday afternoon. Reed has not given a reason for the move.
Three days later, Reed’s office announced that Deputy Chief John Hall would serve as acting chief. Hall is Chief of Investigations.
We caught up with Reed in downtown Montgomery earlier today to ask him about Hall and the department.
“Well, the person at the top hasn’t changed and that’s me,” Reed said. “Acting Chief Hall is well respected and certainly understands the challenge ahead with what he’s been doing. He’s been a part of our leadership team, the command staff, so he knows Montgomery. He knows our police department, so we’ll continue to try to make our city safe and protect our citizens and serve our community the best we can.”
When we asked if there was a timeline for the investigation into Chief Albert, he said no, adding, “We’ll let the process play out.”
