Olympic trials held at Montgomery Whitewater
Athletes from around the world were in Montgomery to compete in Olympic trials at Montgomery Whitewater.
Dozens of athletes are trying to qualify for canoeing and kayaking events at the Olympics, which will be held in Paris this summer. It’s the first time these trials have been held in Alabama.
It’s also the first time that the new sport of kayak cross will have an Olympic trials event.
“In France, we are very excited about the upcoming summer Olympics and Paralympics in Paris. It’s the first time in over a century that France will host this summer’s Olympic Games,” Anna-Laure Desjonqueres, who is the Consulate General of France in Atlanta, told Action 8 News.
