Montgomery City/County EMA Director Christina Thornton prepares for retirement
Montgomery City/County Emergency Management Agency Director Christina Thornton is in her final weeks before retirement.
Thornton is set to retire May 1.
Until then, she says she will work to strengthen her staff’s knowledge of the department.
Thornton has been with the Montgomery City/County Emergency Management Agency for close to eight years.
“Actually I’m feeling great,” Thornton told Action 8 News. “I’m going to take these last few days of opportunity to make sure that I have that continuity so Montgomery never misses me, and they know that this amazing staff has got them.”
“There’s not a question that I ever asked that she didn’t know the answer to off the top of her head without having to go back and find an answer,” Deputy EMA Director Wade Lyles said. “She’s just a wealth of knowledge. She’s an awesome leader and I am honored to have worked underneath her for the short time that I did, and I wish I had more time with her.”
There’s no word yet on who may replace Thornton.
