3 Tennessee women dead in Covington County crash

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says a crash in Covington County over the weekend has claimed the lives of three people.

The fatal crash happened Sunday around 9:45 a.m. on U.S. 29 near the 34 mile marker, approximately seven miles south of Andalusia.

Troopers say the multiple-vehicle crash began when a 2015 Ford F-150 struck a 2022 Honda Passport. After the initial collision, the F-150 then collided head-on with a Hyundai Genesis.

The driver of the Genesis, 89-year-old Evelyn Hnott, passengers 65-year-old Linda Alkasem and 67-year-old Deborah Wall, all of Hendersonville, TN, were fatally injured and pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the F-150 was also injured and transported to Andalusia Health for medical treatment. The driver of the Honda Passport was not injured.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
