Georgia woman dies in Macon County crash
A single-vehicle accident in Macon County has claimed the life of a Columbus, Georgia woman.
The accident happened around 5:30 a.m. on I-85 near the 34 mile marker, approximately two miles north of Franklin.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says 45-year-old Carey Chambers was critically injured when the 2013 Nissan Juke she was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch and several trees before overturning.
Chambers was transported to Baptist Medical Center East in Montgomery where she later died from her injuries.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
