Auburn centerfielder Chris Stanfield started a campaign called “Hats off 3” benefitting the Miracle League of East Alabama. This season each time Stanfield’s hat flies off at Plainsmen Park, or he hits a homerun he’ll donate three dollars to the campaign.

“You know I love baseball and you know you learn a lot of lessons on and off the field in baseball so you know that was really my main reason as well as having a history with the Miracle League but you know just as a student athlete with a platform you know trying to do something that was bigger than me,” says Stanfield.

According to Stanfield, not only has the buy in  from him teammates and coaches been amazing, but the Auburn Family and Community as well. The original goal of the campaign was to raise $3,000. That goal was hit in a matter of 48 hours, so now the goal has been raised to $10,000. The campaign is well on it’s way to achieving that as Stanfield and the Auburn Family have already raised over $7,000.

Stanfield has also had support from businesses as well, Jackson Services has committed to donating $100 every time that Stanfield’s hat flies off, or he hits a homerun.

Stanfield first got involved with Miracle League in middle school back home in Tallahassee, Florida.

“The middle school that I went to had a relationship with the Miracle League and at the time I really didn’t know a whole lot about it so they kind of did a thing where we went to the Miracle site in Tallahassee and that was my first experience,” says Stanfield.

For those young players that look up to Stanfield, he encourages them to find something they too are passionate about and continue to spread the kindness and positivity.

“Count your blessings and use the platform that you have whatever it is to do something great for the world and see where it takes you,” says Stanfield.
