Millbrook woman says home was shot into 11 times with family members inside

A Millbrook woman says her home was shot into at least 11 times on Sunday.

Vallory Franklin says she wasn’t home at the time, but her son and nine-year-old grandson were inside at the time. She says it happened at about 4:45AM Sunday.

Franklin showed Action 8 News her cellphone video of Millbrook police investigators on the scene counting the shell casings.
She also pointed out bullet holes outside and inside of her home.

No one was hurt, but she says things could’ve been much worse.

Franklin says she’s asking for help from the police department about guns being fired into their homes. Franklin said she believe it’s a retaliatory act connected to a homicide that happened two years ago.

Millbrook Police Chief P.K. Johnson says that officers found two homes had been hit. He says so far, investigators haven’t found any suspects. The scene was turned over to detectives with the department’s Criminal Investigations Unit, who processed the scene and collected physical evidence.

“This case is being given the upmost priority,” Johnson said. “This is a case of senseless gun violence, most probably resulting from ‘perceived retaliation’ from a previous incident that occurred in the past. While we are extremely fortunate that no one was injured, as a result of this senseless act, absolutely nothing justifies this. At that time of morning, most people are asleep in their beds. Those bullets could have gone anywhere in either residence, both of which were occupied, one having a 9-year-old child present.”

Johnson says patrols will be stepped up in that area. He says should a suspect be identified they will face, at the very least, two counts of firing a gun into an occupied dwelling.

Johnson says in speaking with detectives, he understands that there may be a witness or witnesses that have information pertinent to this case, but they are unwilling to cooperate with law enforcement due to fear of retaliation. He strongly encourages any witnesses to come forward and for any suspects to turn themselves in.
