ONLY ON 8: Montgomery Shooting Victim Amy Dicks calls for action from Mayor and MPD leadership
ONLY ON 8: Wife and mother Amy Dicks was simply sitting in her vehicle at a red light on the Atlanta Highway in Montgomery on Friday, April 12, when she was caught in the crossfire between unidentified shooters in two cars who are still on the loose.
A reward of $15,000 is being offered in the hopes of solving the case.
In this video you will only see on Action 8 News, Dicks speaks from her heart while sitting in a wheelchair in the spinal cord recovery unit at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta.
Because of the injuries Dicks suffered in the shooting, she will now need a wheelchair, conversion van and renovations to make her home wheelchair accessible.
So many people have wanted to do something to help with her recovery, and several fundraisers have been planned by friends in the community.
A Boston butt sale is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend. You can pre-order by May 15 by texting (334) 201-0199. Organizers are hoping to sell one thousand butts to help Dicks with her medical expenses.
In the meantime, her family and others in the community have spoken publicly at a recent Montgomery City Council meeting, pleading that the city do something to stop gun violence.
